Believe me when I tell you that my lack of comment before now should not be interpreted to mean that I am unaffected by the news reports, photos and stories about the devastation in the Gulf Coast region. I am just at a loss.

My condolences to all those who have been directly affected, and my encouragement to the rest of you to make as generous a donation as you possibly can to the relief efforts. I have opted to make my (initial) donation to American Red Cross. A list of reputable relief organizations can be accessed here. Please give (GIVE!), and also consider participating in Blog for Relief Day today.
