Yes, yes, it's a new year and everyone's happy. Also, I am alive, thank you for asking. Just a few little thoughts to hold you over until I feel like adding a real post:
Why can't the snow plows operating on state and DCR roadways have overhead brusher-thingies™ installed to clear off road signs that are obscured by snow?
Isn't this purty?
That was Bay State Road in Back Bay/Kenmore yesterday morning on my way to work.
A propos of none of your beeswax, I need to go back to a chiropractor.
Work sucks lately.
I get very sad if my kitty doesn't sleep on my bed all night. Typically if she's not there when I go to sleep, she's there when I wake up (and might contribute to same), but I prefer it if she's there when I'm falling asleep AND when I wake up. I remember that it took many months after Zelda died before I stopped feeling her phantom weight on the covers at the foot of my bed. I miss the actual weight of a loved one near me in bed, and you can take that however you choose.
I was diagnosed with adult ADD a few months ago. I take Rit@lin now, which I think is kind of hilarious since I am so far from being hyperactive that I'm more likely to be taken for catatonic.
Yesterday I bought bags of Her5hey Kisses and Miniatures for 82 cents each. So what if the wrappers were all red and green? My office looks festive and I have a full candy bowl again.
Why can't people in my organization spell my name correctly, even when they're responding to an e-mail from me in which my name, spelled correctly, is included at least twice, not including the return address field where it's printed yet a third time?
We just got some great new floor plants in the common areas of my office building. The best part is that a guy comes in every few days to water them. I could totally keep plants alive at home if only someone would pay to have them professionally maintained for me. Why isn't that offered on Amazon so I could add it to my Wish List? Maybe they could take care of litter boxes too ....
That's all I've got for now.

Posted by: Karan on January 17, 2008 12:53 AMHarry and Maynard have very different approaches to spending time with me in bed.
Harry usually gets on the bed not long after I get in it, spends a minute or two kneading on my shoulder, then takes his customary place between my knees and cuddles for a while before going off to sleep in some other spot. Once in a while he might actually go to sleep and stay until the wee hours.
Maynard, on the other hand, is one of those cats who only visits. Unfortunately he visits once every two or three hours all night long, waking me from a sound sleep more often than not. He paces all over the bed looking for attention. Once he gets his minute or two of head scratching or petting, he takes off to wherever he spends his time, until the next visit.
Posted by: Brian on January 17, 2008 10:36 AMBrian: Between your knees? What position do you sleep in?! I guess Olivia is more of an attention whore, like Maynard, but I wish she'd be more of a snuggler. Sigh. Why can't everyone just be the way I tell them to be?
Karan: Obviously. Know anyone there who could hook me up?
Posted by: cynical on January 17, 2008 11:04 AMMy cat will sleep between my knees under the covers on cold mornings (if I'm sleeping on my back or stomach...but I'm all over the place, so it doesn't happen too often.) Usually my cat enjoys playing the "bite the toes" game. If one foot should happen to move or be slightly over the edge of the bed....it's time to play! Ow.
And I agree with Karan, you need a cabana boy. Or at least a personal assistant. I actually work as a personal assistant, and I think you'd be way more fun to work for compared to some of my clients! But, alas, you are too far away. (Oh, if only I could blog about my clients! Oy...the stories I could tell. But, gotta keep my job!)
